Primary was contracted by DMG Blockchain Solutions (DMG) with a nearly insurmountable task at hand. DMG was planning a state of the art crypto-mining facility in eastern BC and needed a transmission, substation, and distribution system engineered and constructed in less than one year. At Primary, we firmly believe that anything is possible and took the challenge head on!

Primary started the design of the project in January 2018 and it was fully commissioned and energized in November 2018. This momentous accomplishment included the definition and detailed design of the 84 MVA substation and the dual 800A 25kV private distribution system to service the facility. The substation design scope included finding the ideal location on the customer property, defining the transmission line extension route for the local utility, specification and general arrangement of all substation equipment, grounding design, protection study and settings, and SCADA integration with the local utility. The distribution design included civil and electrical layouts, device specifications, and grounding studies.

Primary worked very closely with the client to ensure we selected equipment that met performance requirements while optimizing cost and delivery timelines. Our client trusted us with delivery solutions that worked to ensure the quickest path to energization.
