We are seeking experienced labourers to join our Underground Residential Distribution (URD) team. The ideal candidates will have a solid background in underground utility installation and a strong understanding of job site safety and procedures. You will support the installation of underground power systems, conduit, cable, transformers, pedestals, and related infrastructure for residential developments.

 Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical labour to assist with URD utility installations
  • Ensures safe and steady production of the work.
  • Loads and unloads construction materials on site.
  • Assists heavy equipment operators with swamping.
  • Lays pipe in trench, connects pipe using hands and hand tools.
  • Pulls cable in pipe or directly into trench.
  • Shovels, rakes and levels aggregates, including sand, in the trench.
  • Assist linemen, operators, and other crew members as needed
  • Assists in site clean-up.
  • Other duties as required

 Qualifications:    

  • Is in good physical health with no limitations.
  • Has familiarity working around excavation equipment.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Works well as a team in accomplishing projects.
  • Has an interest in learning blueprint reading and referencing specification guidelines.
  • Promotion of safe work practices.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

 A few qualifications that would help you succeed:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of URD or underground utility labourer experience
  • Knowledge of underground utility construction and electrical distribution systems
  • Ability to work in trenches and other confined areas
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Strong commitment to safety practices
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Own means of transportation to and from the site.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Driver’s abstract in good standing.

This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to Primary’s Alcohol and Drug Policy, which includes pre-employment testing.
